StarWound is a Greek music band, whose music cannot be easily classified in a specific genre.
StarWound were formed in 2012 by Konstantina Stavropoulou (vocals), Petros Bouras (piano), Philippos Gregorios Sougles (guitar and clarinet) and Giannis Stavropoulos (bass-guitar). Their first performance, which was a music show entitled “Talking About a Revolution", took place at the “Faust Bar-Theatre-Arts” in February of the same year. Inspired by the social and political repercussions of the economic crisis in Greece, the band members created a ‘flashback’ through songs written about important political events in history, in an attempt to showcase the origins and the reoccurrence of the phenomenon in the last 100 years.
Both the success of the project and the continuously increasing social instability in the country were leading factors in the composition of StarWound’s first songs. In February 2013, drummer Elias Karachalios was incorporated into the band, further enriching its sound.
The varied musical origins of the band members have created the ideal conditions for unique experimentation, making StarWound’s sound distinctive. Their music fuses a cabaret ambience with elements of jazz, rock, classical and traditional genres. Their lyrics, which arise from the philosophical and social concerns of modern man, are characterized both by realism and poetry.
StarWound’s first studio album was recorded at “Lizard Sound-Recording Studios” from February to April 2015. It contains 10 original songs and will be released in 2015 under the title “Miles to Walk”.
